DAVID AKERE
Attorney
David is a trial attorney who focuses on complex civil litigation. He has represented clients in state and federal court, on both the plaintiff and defense side, in a wide range of cases—including but not limited to breach of contract, defamation, real estate, tortious interference, intellectual property, product liability, and labor and employment. He has represented technology, financial service, and entertainment companies in areas such as counseling and compliance, fraud, breach of contract, and privacy matters, and criminal investigations. As a former division one football player, David maintains a natural competitive commitment to winning that drives his meticulous focus. He has also represented several athletes in both college and professional sports with a focus on litigation concerning contract disputes and player relations -- each handled with strategic creativity, intellectual precision, and unwavering advocacy. David has successfully briefed and argued dispositive motions, interviewed and defended multiple key fact and expert witnesses, and negotiated favorable settlements on behalf of his clients both informally and through mediation.
Before joining CWL, David sharpened his litigation acumen at Lynn, Pinker, Hurst, & Schwegmann in Dallas where he delivered results across diverse industries and legal disciplines. He defended high-profile clients in fiduciary duty, theft of trade secrets, labor and employment, real estate litigation, and complex breach of contract matters.

David earned his B.A. with honors in Government from Georgetown University, where he was a two-time captain of the Division I Varsity Football Team and his J.D. from UCLA School of Law, where he was awarded the Barbra L. Davis Scholarship for academic excellence.
David was born and raised in Dallas but has lived abroad in Lagos and London. He is conversational in Spanish and grounded in a global and community-oriented perspective. He is an active member of the State Bar of Texas, the Houston and Dallas Bar Associations, and the JL Turner Legal Association. Outside the office, he mentors student-athletes through Make A Play and remains a passionate student of film and music.
